ADJUSTING THE HEM, sold

"Adjusting the Hem" is a 5x7 pastel on PastelBord. Bidding begins at $100.00.

Well, wouldn't you know it. I'm sure those of you who are artists knew this would happen. One of my last posts I was absolutely thrilled with a piece I had done, and I was so brazen as to mention it. So my work ever since has been dismal. I guess I'm paying my artist penance for my pride. This one is me getting my footing again. You should see the ones I've thrown away. You'd question my talent and skills. I do.

  1. Well, I love this one - and I think you are too hard on yourself for the other recent ones you've posted! But, that being said - I, too, have been in a place of being consistently dissatisfied! ... part of the life of an artist, I think! Just so you know - I really admire your work! Your style and sense of color are great!

  2. Margaret, Your work is always wonderful, but I know what you are going through. Once in a while I'll sit down to my pastels and it is like all my skills and talents have vanished into thin air. Many attempts are trashed and I start beating myself up and thinking I'm no longer an artist. My husband always reminds me that not all baseball players hit a home run every time they step up to the plate. He always suggests I turn on my favorite music, start singing, and then sit down to paint. It really works! He's a smart man. I wish you well!! Paula

  3. Hey Margaret, don't be too hard on your self. You are great in what you are doing. And you know it! And it is good that you are hard on self (not too hard). Otherwise a painter wil work only from experience. Every day is a struggle, but when the painting is done and you are satisfied with the result, it is ok. I've never been 100% satisfied, it is hard, but it is the truth. Please continue the good work, you have a lovely way of working. And please... forgive me for my bad english!
