Been gone way too long...

and I miss blogging. Life has been in turmoil for quite a while--marital woes--but I am ready to try to try to make things normal again, if I can.

I've been teaching little classes here in my studio once a month, teaching an occasional workshop around the USA. And lately I've been drawing a lot of kids, something I love to do. I lurk around baseball fields and playgrounds, hoping I don't look like a predator. But what can make a person feel better than to be with children?

  1. I love this! Lurking around ball fields... I do the same at the beach. I find it helps when you actually wear a bathing suit to go photograph kids playing. Otherwise you really stand out walking around fully dressed with your camera. Thank goodness for zoom lenses!

Wish you well readjusting to life...

  4. Yes, it has been way too long for your fans, as well. In his facial expression and gesture you have deliciously captured the attitude of this downcast little ballplayer. So glad you are back in the saddle!

  7. Extraordinary piece. Words fail. Your posts are a ray of light (literally) in my mailbox. Sorry to hear of your woes - looks like maybe some are showing in that little guy's face. Much love.

  8. Glad you are blogging again! May you find that life continues to inspire you despite the circumstances. Probably out of my price range for a painting of my grandkids, but they would be great subjects! No bias here, of course!

  9. Margaret, I quite like this piece, great expression - one that you will find on many young boys as they try to please their parents! Living with another person is a challenge, daily I find, but visiting the studio seems to put life in perspective. Hugs as you find your way.

  10. Margaret,
My thoughts are with you as you sort things out. I remember in a movie (not sure the title but Steve Martin was the Dad) the message was that life should be like a roller coaster, because a flat ride would just be too boring. Maybe you will find some joy in it all.

As for this little guy, you've inspired me to watch my son as he plays baseball this season, they are really fun to watch and the expressions priceless. I agree with 'See Jake Ride''s post about the expression, possibly reflected in your own daily experiences. Much luck to you and your workshop, wishing I lived much closer to attend!
