MEG AT THE VANITY-3, sold

Obviously I work in series. I'll have Meg (or Moo, as I call her) pose for about an hour, while I shoot with my Nikon D80. Usually after an hour we're both bored and lacking interest. I'll write her a check, and go home with 200-300 photos, of which maybe 10 or 20 will have images that I can get excited about. This should keep me busy for a few weeks. When I get bored with the series, I'll set up another photo shoot.

MEG AT THE VANITY, another small piece I plan on selling at Cherry Creek in a couple of weeks, will sell for $300.00. Unless, of course, it sells here.

ANNETTE IN RED

ANNETTE IN RED is an 18x12.5 pastel on LaCarte Pastel Paper.

ANNETTE IN RED is a sketch I did while teaching a workshop in Chattanooga last week--just got home Wednesday night. Five artists, 3 models (mostly Annette), and I spent almost 5 days together working madly and producing some pretty impressive work. It's funny how people's voices and impressions are burned into the memory after so many hours in the same room together. I miss them all right now. Even Annette Marie Lapreze Bouvier Kennedy Onassis Merchant.

But no time to be morose. I leave in a week to teach again in upstate New York, then on to Denver for the Cherry Creek Art Festival. I'll be sitting at my easel for the next week working on the beautiful images I shot from our models this past week. You'll see a few of the images here.

Jane, Judy, Janet, Suzy and Mimi...hi!

EMPIRE STATE, click for link to River Gallery

EMPIRE STATE is a 9x12 pastel on Pastelbord.

I know this is a little unusual for me--a cityscape with no people. But actually, there are about 8.2 million of them there. You just can't see them because they're too small.

This one also is going up to River Gallery in Chattanooga. I'm driving my bright red Chevy Express up there tomorrow to teach a class; I"ll be taking 11 new pieces for the gallery, and will be bringing older, unsold pieces back with me. My big worry: returning home to my garden with a week's worth of weeds to deal with. Oy.

AT THE MIRROR

AT THE MIRROR is a 12x24 pastel on pastelbord. It'll be at the River Gallery in Chattanooga later this week, along with a few other new pieces.

AT THE MIRROR is of Meg, my youngest, who happens to be a brunette at the moment. She's a stylist, working at a trendy little salon in Decatur, in metro Atlanta. Born a blonde, she's experimenting with hair colors and styles--I never recognize my own daughter anymore. But it makes for a good model; she never looks like the same person twice.

NUDE WITH BLUES AND GREENS, sold

NUDE WITH BLUES AND GREENS is a 5x7 pastel on Pastelbord.

It's hot here. As uncomfortable as it can get, I won't complain. I love the spring and summer months. I dread the onset of fall and winter. I thrive on birds singing outside my open window in the mornings and the colorful garden and lush green trees and open windows and ice coffee and bare feet and light clothing and...

Best get back to work. Two workshops to teach this month, one art festival next month, and I'm sitting here at the computer. I'll be frantic in one week because there's so much to do.

I also thrive on that. I hope you're all enjoying these warm days.
