Very nice painting Margaret, full of colors and light and very much like what you have seen in Paris. I love it as well as the market scene. I hope you have fully recovered from this nasty flu Isn't it better to catch that in winter ?? Amicalement from Jacqueline- Versailles
I will live through your paintings, a trip to Paris. You have captured, what must be the flavor of the city in these first two paintings. Love the color. Love your work, love your musing words. Feel better, Ruth
This is really beautiful Margaret. I saw your work at the Oglethorpe exhibit- just gorgeous! I am just starting out in pastels, and am wondering- what brand do you prefer? Do you typically start with an underpainting?
I don't underpaint; I use a toned board, like PastelBord or La Carte. The pastels I use: Schmincke, Terry Ludwig, Art Spectrum, Unison. The softer the better.
I'm beginning to feel good. That may not seem significant, but it's quite a statement since I've been unable to say that for almost 3 years. I've been in a very dark place, thus, the silence in my blog. But with final divorce papers in my hand, I've relinquished all hope of repairing a broken marriage, and I'm determined to make the most of this new chapter in my life. That said, things are happening quickly here. My second year lease at this sweet, small and safe Villa Rica studio apartment ended almost exactly as my divorce papers arrived. Time to move back to Atlanta, where family and friends are, and search for a new home. I want a house to call my own, with a garden. Nothing big. Just something to call my own. I received a phone message from my sister the other day telling me of something she heard on the TV--Wells Fargo's new program, Neighborhood Lift, offering downpayment assistance to people who fit the criteria and are willing to move into the depr...
Not a good day so far... I had to run up to the post office to deliver an entry by its deadline today for a show in Wichita. Less than a mile from my house, still on my street, approaching the highway, a dog came running from the highway toward me; I veered my car to try to avoid him. I was unsuccessful. I heard the impact, and heard him as he collided into my front left bumper. I stopped and watched helplessly as he ran to the backyard of the house nearby. I backed up, pulled into the driveway, ran to the back. He was lying on the deck, breathing rapidly. Though there were no visible injuries, I knew he was in bad shape. I banged on the door of the house. No answer. I called 911, not knowing if they would consider this an emergency. They did. They sent a Deputy Sheriff out (he was there in less than 10 minutes). As I waited for the cops, I stayed with the dog and apologized and cried and prayed he'd go quickly. He did. By the time the Deputy arrived, the dog was not in pain anymor...
